  • Origin and appearance:

Beets, also known as beetroot, are round or oval vegetables with a characteristic intense red color. They belong to the beet family and originally come from the Mediterranean region.
These root vegetables are grown worldwide and are popular in many regional cuisines.
    Features and Use:

Beets have a sweet, earthy flavor and a juicy, firm texture. They can be eaten raw, cooked, baked or pickled and are good in salads, soups, purees or as a side dish.
Their intense red can add vibrant color to dishes and make them a visual highlight.
    Food and health:

Beets are rich in nutrients such as fiber, vitamins (especially folic acid and vitamin C), minerals (such as potassium and iron) and antioxidants.
They are associated with various health benefits, including promoting heart health, improving digestion, and supporting the immune system.
    Availability and storage:

Beets are usually available all year round and are sold at markets, supermarkets or directly from farmers.
For storage, the leaves can be removed and the tubers stored in a cool, dry place or in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator.
    Versatility in the kitchen:

Beetroot can be prepared in a variety of ways, be it as an ingredient in salads, as soups, as steamed vegetables or even in baked goods such as beetroot cakes.
